about me…
I am an Integrative Child and Adolescent Counsellor, trainer, writer and public speaker. I believe passionately in the work I do, helping children & young people who are experiencing emotional and social difficulties, and those who, sometimes, have had very difficult starts in life. I am equally dedicated to furthering the understanding of other professionals, and society generally, about the issues that can impact on some young people and how best to support them. More about me…
Therapy Services
All children are unique individuals; each session, and the overall course of therapy, is tailored to their needs. My basic attitude in my one-to-one clinical sessions with children and young people is playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy. Because children and young people do not always communicate what is going on for them through words alone, I use a mix of play and creative activities to support children in expressing themselves.
I believe it is the relationship between the therapist and client which is central to the therapeutic process, and my theoretical framework is an integration of attachment, psychodynamic and humanistic theories, neurosequential development and neuroscientific understanding.
If there is a child or young person you think might benefit from therapy, please contact me for an informal, no obligation, discussion.
Training Services
Therapy or counselling can be helpful for many children, but it is not available or suitable for everyone. Even when it is, it can only ever be part of a young person’s experience. Relationships with key adults and the young person’s environment will always have the greatest impact.
I can provide training for schools, children’s homes, fostering and adoption agencies, local authorities and any other organisation concerned with the welfare of children and young people.
Topics I cover include: Attachment, Developmental Trauma, Understanding Self-Harm, Therapeutic Thinking, Relationship Building, and Reflective Practice.
All of the training I offer will be tailored to the needs of your organisation. If you think I might be able to help you, please contact me for an informal, no obligation, discussion.
Professional Services
Even when internal support is effective, it can often be helpful to talk-through and think about issues and concerns with someone who has distance from day-to-day involvement and is independent of line management.
I can facilitate external individual or group supervision, and child-focused discussion groups, for those that would with children and young people, including social workers, teachers, residential care staff and foster carers.
These services can be provided on a one-off or ongoing basis and supervisees or participants can discuss general issues or focus on a particular child. My approach is relational and trauma-informed.
If you think your employees or organisation may benefit from any of these services, please contact me for an informal, no obligation, discussion.

I’ve dealt with some really serious incidents with teenagers over the past month, the most serious in my career. We are letting our young people down so badly. A decade of politically chosen austerity has left so many young people marginalised. The risks are real and devastating twitter.com/BASW_UK/status…
Genuine question: is there an consensus & agreed definition of #careexperienced?
If only she was a white, middle aged Russian man who had made dodgy millions Shamima Begum would be OK to enter U.K. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-562090…
If a white girl had been groomed, married off to an older man, forced to have babies who died in exile.... no matter how reprehensible her actions she would be given a reasonably sympathetic hearing Wtf is wrong with the UK? #ShamimaBegum
I have no idea about that legal technicalities, but morally the UK’s treatment of Begum is despicable and this is a sad day... twitter.com/skynewsbreak/s…
